Žnjan Beach
Split

Žnjan is Split's newest and cleanest stretch of coastline. It sits 4 km east of Diocletian's Palace, with crystal-clear Adriatic water, a modern promenade and a pace far removed from the old-town crowds.

Central Beach sits right on the shore: a beach bar and Mediterranean kitchen open daily from 08:00. Pull up a chair, order brunch and let the morning stretch into golden hour.

A Beach Bar on Žnjan

Central Beach is a beach bar and café on the Žnjan promenade, built for slow days by the sea. The kitchen runs all day with a Mediterranean menu of small plates, wood-fired pizza, fresh pasta and fruit-forward cocktails. Mornings start with coffee and brunch, afternoons slow down over long lunches and spritz, and by evening the light turns gold and the music comes up.

Just opposite the caffe bar, on the beach itself, we run an open-air bar a few steps from the water. It is made for long, easy days by the sea: coffee to go, cold cocktails, premium drinks and refreshments between swims, all without straying far from your spot on the shore.

Žnjan Beach, Split's Newest Shoreline

Žnjan beach is the result of a major waterfront renewal on Split's eastern edge. The shoreline mixes pebble coves with smooth concrete platforms that make it easy to get in and out of the water, and the long promenade behind it is lined with palms, walking paths and places to eat.

Because it sits away from the old town, Žnjan stays calmer than central beaches like Bačvice, even in peak season. The water is clean and clear, the views stretch across the Adriatic to the islands, and there is room to spread out. It is roughly 4 km from the centre, close enough for a quick trip and far enough to feel like a proper day at the beach.

A day here can be as easy or as active as you like. Sun loungers line the shore for slow hours in the sun, the swimming is calm and clear, and just offshore floats the largest inflatable water park in Croatia, a course of slides, climbs and jumps that is a hit with kids and families. Between the water, a lounger and the bar, the day shapes itself around you.

From Morning to Golden Hour

A day at Central Beach has its own rhythm. Come early for brunch and quiet water, stay for a long Mediterranean lunch, then settle in for aperitivo as the sun drops behind the islands. The full menu runs from open to close, so there is always something to order.

When the light fades, the day rolls into the evening. The same spot that served your morning coffee becomes one of the better places to catch Split nightlife, with open-air music right on the water. Planning a trip around the area? Our journal covers more on what to do around Žnjan and Split.
